This started as a gift for a dear friend, and proceeded to be my main coping mechanism with the news of the full-scale invasion and war breaking out in my homeland, Ukraine. I couldn't really play piano, I couldn't paint, I didn't know if I was gonna see my Ukrainian family ever again, I couldn't sleep. I just listened to hourly news updates and livestreams following the events of the day and cross-stitched non stop.
The finished cross-stitch now resides with my friend, and I'm grateful for the support it gave me knowing that there was at least something I had control over in the midst of the dark realities.
